LOS ANGELES, CA., July 22, 2022 — Hubject, the global leader in EV Charging announces that Trishan Peruma is joining the company as CEO, North America. Following recent trends in US rulemaking about sustainable transportation, the appointment of Trishan Peruma reinforces Hubject’s intent to expand US operations, accelerate EV adoption and further link North America with its existing eRoaming network and Plug&Charge technologies and services for a seamless charging experience.
Hubject is the world’s leading player in interoperability within EV Charging, with over 400,000 charging points and 1,000 partners across 52 countries, including the US and Canada. Hubject’s technical expertise and global experience help its partners to make charging accessible and easier for EV drivers.
As long-time advocates for interoperability and ISO15118, Hubject is working with key industry stakeholders to adopt technologies such as Plug&Charge and eRoaming: solutions that ensure secure, seamless charging for drivers. Hubject is preparing the US EV industry to scale rapidly. By appointing new CEO Trishan Peruma to their Los Angeles office, Hubject is reaffirming its intent to expand its influence within North America.
Following the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking from the US Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration as well as the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill, there is little doubt that EV Charging will take priority in the transition of the US mobility sector to zero emission. The Bipartisan Infrastructure bill has committed to building 500,000 charging points by 2030, which will massively expand public EV infrastructure.
The Notice from the Department of Transport also advises mobility technologies to align with the ISO 15118 standard, spotlighting innovations like Plug&Charge, as well as V2G (vehicle-to-grid). This speaks of a broader shift in American sentiment, coming as the EV market reaches a tipping point. With over 5% of all new vehicle sales now being EVs, as well as US based manufacturers electrifying popular models (like the Ford F150 Lighting), the rollout of infrastructure and interoperable EV Charging technologies and services is a key element of this transition.
As the new CEO of Hubject Inc., Trishan Peruma will be supporting vehicle manufacturers, infrastructure and mobility providers, fleets, and utilities. The goal is to accelerate the mass adoption of EVs across the US and Canada by leveraging Hubject’s eRoaming network intercharge, Plug&Charge technology, and in EV Charging consulting.
“As someone who is passionate about interoperability and EV Charging, joining the Hubject Inc team is an exciting step for me.” Trishan Peruma says about his appointment as CEO of Hubject North America. “I’m looking forward to working with our partners in North America to accelerate EV adoption and address the major challenges facing the industry, such as IT security, charger accessibility and ease of use.”
With over ten years of global experience in the EV Charging and energy sectors, Trishan Peruma brings the needed expertise to steer this exciting mission. He has held previous leadership positions at Pod Point, a leading charger manufacturer and operator in the UK and Norway, as well as ViriCiti (acquired by ChargePoint), a leading EV telematics and charger management system provider in Europe and the US.
Hubject simplifies the charging of electric vehicles. Through its eRoaming platform, called intercharge, the eMobility specialist connects Charge Point Operators or CPOs and eMobility Service Providers or EMPs, enabling unified, grid-independent access to charging infrastructure. With over 400,000 connected charging points and more than 1,000 B2B partners in 52 countries and four continents, Hubject has created the world's largest cross provider charging network for electric vehicles by connecting CPO networks. In addition, Hubject is a trusted consulting partner in the eMobility market, advising car manufacturers, charging providers and other EV-related businesses looking to launch eMobility services or implement Plug&Charge according to ISO 15118.
